Shoeboxes for Mexico Christmas Project1. Use a standard size shoebox or similar plastic container. Wrap the box and lid separately.2. Determine whether your gift will be for a girl or boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, 10-14 (tape a label to the top so we know). 3. Fill the box with gifts (see suggestions below). Try to spend about $10 for each box. 4. You can donate as many boxes as you'd like. Make it a family project to put the boxes together. Perhaps have each person in the family help give of his/her own resources to fill the box (just a suggestion). 5. If you prefer, you can also sponsor boxes by donating $10/box and someone else can put it together. Gift suggestions (try to include some of each item): -School supplies: pens, pencils (with pencil sharpeners), markers, coloring books, writing pads or paper, etc. (no crayons, Rick has some that he will include). -Toys: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, small etch a sketch, slinky, etc. -Hygiene items: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, comb. -Candy: hard candy in a plastic bag, lollipops, mints and gum. -Other: sunglasses, ball caps, socks, toy jewelery, hair clips, etc. Please don't include breakable items such as glass containers, liquids, etc. Also, no electronics or battery operated items. Bring your boxes to church by Nov 23, we'll be delivering them the following week. | ||||
